BARN WEDDING VENUES IN OXFORDSHIRE

The Tythe Barn, Launton, Bicester

Barn wedding venues in Oxfordshire have become a huge trend the last decade, there has been a shift in how couples want a more rustic feel to their venue and not a high end classy hotel look. I am a personal digger of these type of venues and they are right up my street, hence the blog post about these! I just wanted to give you a little bit of inspiration on these local barn venues using some of my photographs i’ve taken here!

Please note, there are many other gorgeous venues not listed here and this is just a selection! If you’d like anymore suggestions for venues please feel free to get in touch for a chat.

First up, we HAVE to talk about The Tythe Barn, Bicester. This is one of the biggest barns in the area and one of the most beautiful! The inside decoration of lights really lights up what can sometimes make barns quite dark and dingy (which I can love sometimes!) The Tythe Barn is a 14th Century barn, full of charm and character and this serves as your backdrop upon which you can create your own perfect wedding day! The Tythe Barn and the adjoining Cowshed can seat between 40 and 165 guests for the wedding breakfast, with space for up to 200+ guests in the evening.

Next, I have to mention Dovecote Barn in Adderbury, the most diverse wedding venue in the area, offering barn weddings, marquee weddings and tipi weddings. Dovecote Barn can hold up to 100 seated guests for your ceremony and wedding breakfast, with an additional 40 guests for your evening celebrations. You can see from the images the fields that surround this venue creating gorgeous sunset photos all throughout the year.

Despite being just outside of Oxfordshire, I just wanted to give a special mention to this incredible venue.. Huntsmill Farm! They are so quirky and the staff are so friendly and helpful. I always love coming here and photographing as I know it’s going to be a great day and a lot more stress free.

Huntsmill Farm, Buckinghamshire

Huntsmill Farm has a newly converted 18th century stone barn wedding venue situated in the heart of the rural Buckinghamshire countryside. It can be decorated in many ways and used as you wish. It is licensed for civil ceremonies, exclusive site hire for the weekend and seven self-catering cottages available for you and your guests, Huntsmill Farm is the ideal wedding location.

Next, a venue i’ve unfortunately only managed to visit once in my photography career. But it made a real impression on me due to the sheer beauty of the venue! Notley Tythe Barn.

Notley Tythe Barn, Aylesbury

Nestling in a picturesque fold in the Chiltern Hills on the Bucks and Oxon border, Notley Tythe Barn is an ancestral part of the rural landscape. In 1991 owners Nick and Denise Reynolds lovingly restored the historic 12th Century barn. Now its beam rafted roof, its magnificent whitewashed hall and gallery echo not to the noise of harvest toil but to the sounds of wedding celebrations. Elegant and unique, it’s the perfect setting for your wedding or special event.

Old Luxters Barn

Old Luxters Barn is a lovely 18th century converted barn has a charming rustic appeal, with all modern conveniences discreetly to hand.  Seating from 40 up to 114 guests, and drinks receptions up to 150 guests, this flexible space can be personalised for any occasion, whether lavish or casual in style. Old Luxters offers a reception barn, bar area and raised gallery with DJ console. The beautiful orchard to the left of the barn makes an ideal space for a marquee or even a yurt, creating a lovely outdoor space.

I love the rickety look to this barn and just like Tythe Barn, I love the fairy lights and think it is a must at weddings, especially just for the background in photos!

Blackwell Grange

Blackwell Grange in The Cotswolds, has a stunning Thatch Barn and has been part of the Blackwell landscape since 1543. Lovingly restored, it is now licensed for civil ceremonies while dinner and dancing take place in the contemporary Orchard Barn. As the sun sets, soak up the landscape, from the terrace overlooking the Chestnut Dell.

Lastly, Skylark Farm just outside Oxfordshire (technically Northamptonshire) is one of our favourite local venues for beautiful views. It looks onto the hills of Daventry and if you catch the sunset on the hills you get beautiful photographs like this!
